The heroes battled a Displacer Beast that threatened to disrupt a ritual to restore the lives of Mal and Keerian—Emmit's wife and son. Memories of Emmit's past flashed through the minds of the ritual participants, revealing moments of Emmit meeting Mal and the two raising Keerian together. As the tides turned in the beast's favor, Emmit drew the creature away in a moment of self-sacrifice. The Lady of Dread Omens pursued after Emmit, but was later seen storming away, strangely upset.

At the completion of the ritual, Mal and Keerian were restored into physical bodies, but were disheartened by the loss of Emmit. Taking this time to rebury Aundru, the party then made camp to recover. When morning came, the wounds of the heroes had not healed; Cairn informed them that this was an aftereffect of the ritual and would take a week to resolve. Cairn then suggested that the party should journey to the Feywild if they needed answers regarding Aundru's death or Saltair's sheep. To get there, they would need a tuning fork aligned to the plane and a scroll of Plane Shift or a spellcaster powerful enough to perform it. Cairn told the group to meet and watch over someone named Aeraelle in Ordulin, who possessed the first of those requirements.

Having ventured off into the woods to look for Emmit, Mal and Keerian found his remains in a nearby clearing. Grieving and burying a second friend in as many days, the party left Elven Court and returned to Essembra. There, they reconvened with Mr. Jingles and Lunea, informing them of Emmit's fate. Galadrathrill's older brother, Calathrendir, approached Galadrathrill to inform him that their mother has demanded he return home to Highmoon and restore the funds he has misappropriated from the family's coffers.

Zera, Saltair, and Galadrathrill left town for Ordulin. At a bard college in Ordulin, a living doll named Aeraelle conversed with her drow roommate, Aliz Da'Aro, about her summer plans. Arriving shortly after, the party recruited Aeraelle into their ranks and continued westward to Highmoon.
